Henry Hobart Nichols is an American artist, born in 1869 in Washington DC.

He first worked as an illustrator for the US Geological Survey, but always painted in his free time. Today, he is mainly known for his picturesque landscapes from which emanate light and mystery.
He was also known for his leadership in the American art community. He was the president of the National Academy of Art for ten years, and led other important institutions and galleries throughout his career. Today, his works can be found in many prestigious collection, among which that of the Metropolitan Museum in New-York City.
He passed away in 1962, aged 93.
