1942 - 2010
Benoît Simard was born in Lac-Saint-Jean in 1942.
He first studied and taught psychology until the 80s, after which he decided to work full-time as an artist. His paintings are full of mystery from which we can feel the influence of his years as a psychologist. His partner, Jean Tremblay, describes his work as spontaneous, vivid and festive.
Benoît Simard represented Canada at the International Painting Festival in Cagnes-sur-mer in 1990. He exhibited his work in France, Italy, Australia and New York. Recently, he exhibited 21 paintings inspired by Québec songs for the 400th anniversary of Québec City in 2008.
His extravagant and dynamic personality makes him an inspired and inspiring artist!
