1934 -

Giovanni Gerometta hails from Italy and has made his home in Canada since 1954. He is a graduate of the School of Mosaics in Spillimbergo; upon his arrival in Canada due to his professional training he worked on many murals in churches and public buildings and in particular the Basilica at Saint Anne de Beaupré. His working with mosaics gave him a profound sense of colour and the construction of illustration in artworks such as paintings.
He enrolled in art classes at the Quebec museum and continued to perfect his techniques in both drawing and painting. For many years now, he has devoted himself to painting, inspired by the beautiful landscapes of the Charlevoix region and his homeland of Italy. He has had solo showings in Québec, Montréal, Hull and Halifax as well as participating in many group showings throughout Canada.
