1933 - 2007

Gaston Rebry was born on the 20th of October 1933 in Belgium.

He studied at the Menin Academy of Fine Arts in Belgium, where he was awarded the First Prize twice.

He decided to settle in Québec in 1954. He then started studying at the Montréal School of Fine Arts, after which he became a full-time artist. He settled in Mauricie and painted the landscapes of this region for his whole career.

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien was particularly fond of Rebry’s work. He gave some of his paintings as diplomatic gifts to many dignitaries, including pope John Paul II.

Rebry passed away in Shawinigan on the 5th of January 2007.
