Jacques Jourdain was born in 1931. Still active, the most important thing to this painter is the joy of life that he tries to paste in his artworks. In his workshop of Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges he creates pieces in which the celebration of the nature is the main purpose.

Born in Trois-Rivières, he studies at the École des Beaux-Arts de Québec starting at the age of 18. His master is the very well-known painter Jean-Paul Lemieux.

The landscapes created by Jourdain are from his imagination. When he achieves his paintings, the artist doesn’t use any photography of doesn’t paint in the nature directly as it is common to do. Absolutely beautiful and extremely refined, the paintings of Jourdain are charming for the collectors and amateurs of art. His technique is particular: printer ink is used in small portions on hardboard plates. Like this, it becomes possible to work with much fluidity and transparency. Rich colors as yellow, ocre, blue cobalt, grey and greens are used in his paintings.

Practicing since now more than 65 years, Jourdain had the chance to meet great painters like Borduas, Pellan, Riopelle, Gauvreau and Ferron, among others. Important notice about his career: he had the great honor to be selected by the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal in 1959 to expose some of his paintings at the 77th Salon du Printemps, which is a great demonstration of gratitude.
