Halfway between the dream world and the real world, Jean-François Lavoie’s work is created intuitively. For the artist, painting becomes the interface of two parallel worlds into which he enters and exits at will. He analyzes the narrative of his paintings with its gaps and connections. He seeks to understand shape, color, space, and duration in order to target the signage of his work. The artist first draws a sketch with his left hand to obtain a naive effect, then he paints with his right hand. This breaks the straightness and helps give a harmonious rhythm to his work. The composition is reflected in playful scenes with pronounced colors.
