Biography

Born in Trois-Rivières in 1949, Michel Pleau developed from an early age a deep sensitivity to both art and the natural world. Over the years, he dedicated himself fully to painting, a language he considers the most direct way to convey his emotions and reflections.

In 1989, his commitment and artistic vision were recognized when he became a member of the Association des Artistes Peintres Créateurs Associés du Québec. That same year, he was awarded the Grand Prix de Peinture Canadien, a prestigious honor that confirmed his place among the leading artists of his generation. Ten years later, in 1999, he was also admitted to the Institut des Arts Figuratifs, further solidifying his reputation within the Quebec and Canadian art scene.

Through his canvases, Michel Pleau seeks less to depict nature than to reveal its soul. Light, landscapes, and atmospheres in his paintings become gateways to a dimension that is both contemplative and spiritual. His art reflects not only a sincere admiration for the beauty of the world, but also a curiosity for the mystery hidden behind visible forms.

His work goes beyond simple figurative representation: it is a celebration, an exaltation of life, and an invitation to look anew at the world around us. Each painting becomes a meeting ground between the artist, nature, and the viewer, where a profound respect for the invisible and the timeless comes to life.
