Paquet, Michel

Paquet, Michel

Michel Paquet was born in Thetford Mines, Quebec in 1948. He began his career in science and educational psychology before pursuing a degree in Fine Arts at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and later in Art History at Université Laval in Québec City.

He first became known as a painter of abstract art, later focusing on the figurative. His style is distinguished by being minimal and refined. He works with acrylic, oil, gouache and pencil drawing and even experiments with collage.

He died suddenly in 1990, but left behind a large body of work, several of which are now in museums. His paintings can be found at the Sherbrooke Museum of Fine Arts and the Pierre Boucher Museum in Trois-Rivières as well as in the collection of the Canadian Institute of Quebec, among others.
