Biography

Born in 1947, Albini Leblanc grew up in a small village on the south shore of the Baie-des-Chaleurs in Gaspésie. Leblanc’s interest towards art was clear from a young age and he was taught his first painting lessons at 14 by Father Guy Bruneau at the Séminaire St-François in Québec City.

Formerly a teacher, Albini Leblanc left the comfort of his job in 1984 and moved to Montreal with his family to focus on his artistic career. Once inspired by the landscapes of Gaspésie, he found new inspirations in the city’s older neighborhoods lined with trees and traditional architecture. His know well-known urbans scenes were quickly noticed by an art gallery in Montreal marking the beginning of his career.

Moving to l’Ile d’Orléans in 1993, then to Québec City in 2000, Leblanc’s style evolved through the years. He left behind the rigid frame of architectural drawing to give more movement and expression to his paintings. Exploring many themes, from still life to landscape, he was an accomplished and respected artist throughout his career.
